Veteran Pentacle Lawsuit to Proceed

army.jpgDespite a weak attempt by the would-be defendants to postpone, Wiccans WILL be permitted to sue the Veterans Administration for their continued refusal to grant permission to Wiccans to join some thirty other religious groups allowed to use religious symbols on soldier’s grave-markers.

After years of blowing off Pagan families, the VA requested the postponement so they could have an additional year to draft new rules for accepting new grave marker symbols- and promised a decision within thirty days after that, adding an additional thirteen months to the ten years they’ve been waffling and stonewalling, refusing top honor or even acknowledge numerous requests.

That’s unbelievable. This young Wiccan fought and died for his country. Wicca is a recognized religion in the Army, so what is the VA’s problem? They still think of witches as evil-doers who tromp around at night casting spells and killing babies. It’s sad to think the VA would take away the symbol of his faith after he made the ultimate sacrifice. It’s even sadder that they make decisions like this based on a fear of something they do not understand.
